125th Avenue Extension Project History

1972               Adopted as part of the Beaverton Area Comprehensive Plan.

1973-1981       Preliminary alignment studies and designs.

1988                    Comprehensive Plan Amendment that included connection with Greenway, Barberry Drive, Stillwell Lane,                               and Green Lane (cul-de-sac Green Lane at Hall Blvd.)

1991                    City bond measure that included 125th project failed.

1992                    Right-of-way acquisition began on five parcels of land needed for the road.

1994-95             $4.0 million project cost estimate included in the City's Capital Improvement Program.

1997-98             Project Advisory Committee formed to select a desired alternative and initial design of the road. The                               selected design was a depressed road with sound walls and using an alignment that did not include                               Green Lane.

2006                    A proposal was brought before City Council to eliminate the depressed road and also make changes in                           the sound walls to save money. This proposal went nowhere.

2008                    Traffic Engineering came back before City Council with plans to lessen the depression of the road and                           route the road down Green Lane. These changes will save between 2.1 to 4.0 million dollars on a project                         that now is estimated to cost 15 million dollars. These changes go directly against the desires of the                             1997-98 Project Advisory Committee.

July 2008         Mayor Rob Drake informed residents along Green Lane that the 125th extension would not go down their                        street. See Oregonian Article here.

Aug 2008         On August 4th City Council reversed the Mayor's decision. See Oregonian Article here.

Aug 2008         The 125th extension issue described in the above Oregonian Article did not come back before City                                Council on August 18th. It has been delayed until a later date.
